Mix together:
½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed banana with 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 ½ Tablespoon sour milk or buttermilk
Mix
together in small bowl:
2 cups sifted flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
Add
flour mixture to banana mixture. Add ¾
cup chopped nuts if desired. Pour
into a greased 9 ½” x 5 ½” loaf pan and bake at 350°
for 45-60 minutes.
