Elephant Stew

From a church cookbook that my mom used to have, this always gave me a chuckle.

1 medium-sized elephant
brown gravy
2 rabbits (optional)
salt & pepper to taste

Cut the elephant into small, bite-size pieces.  Add enough brown gravy to cover.  Cook over low fire about two days at 365°.  This will serve about 3,800 people.  If more are expected, two rabbits may be added – but do this only in an emergency (many people do not like hare in their stew).
